I glazed over my paintings to try and fix them. Not entirely happy with them, but it did help a little.

Laboratory specimen

Up way too late as usual, but not because of homework. Experimenting with sanding and different surfaces. The scanner didn't do the colours justice, the original is more vibrant. I want to play around with textures and find a new recipe for my finals. I feel like I'm in a rut and I need to branch out from my comfort zone. I'm going to tell myself I'm going to experiment more, but we'll see how it goes.

Juicy Brains

This was my submission for the Orangina contest. I'm not very happy with my concept... more like lack of a concept. I wish I had of known about it earlier because I would have submitted more work.

1 down, 2 to go!!

I finally finished the first panel of the commission I'm working on. They weren't completely happy with the colour of the girl's shoes, so I toned them down. I think it's more balanced now, good suggestion. 2 more panels to go and I'm done.

Assignment #1

This was our first assignment for core class this year. The assignment was to take three classified ads and make a narrative. My ads were "Nice Girl with Herpes", "Seeking One Submissive Female" and "Congratulations, Happy 65th Wedding Anniversary".

Bear

This was based on a piece I did for Gary's class last semester which I wasn't happy with. I liked the outline of the bear and wanted to play with it more. It was fun at first, but now I'm just glad it's done. I think I need to take a break from patterns and circles for a bit.

Roots and Animals

Creative lifestore project for Taxali. This wasn't my favourite one out of the bunch, but it was mostly just experimenting. I tried doing some transfers as well as my brush pen.

Playing in the Mud

Another Harvey assignment. The idea was man vs. machine, but my concept was a little loose. I was really happy with the colours and textures. Usually I avoid collage at all costs, but I think this changed my mind. Hopefully over the summer I'll try it again.

Life Painting

I finally felt like I was getting a hang of painting from life... unfortunately that was the last class of the semester. It's unfinished because I was working on the face mostly. I feel like it was a big step in the right direction compared to where I was even last week.

Goldfish, Lip Gloss and Addiction

For this project we were given a class photo from a 1970's yearbook. We had to write a story and create an illustration for it, however we were not allowed to include the person from the photograph. My story was about a girl who had no friends except her goldfish and became addicted to lip gloss as a desperate attempt to fit in.

Sketch #1 and Sketch #2- I really liked the first one with the glasses on the desk, sadly it was the first one that was rejected. Sketch #2 I thought was blah.
This was the Sketch that Taxali chose for my final. It was my second choice and I figured I could do more with it and stay true to my original sketch.

This was my ink drawing for my final. I wanted to do it without digital help, however when I began to paint it with water colour, I really messed it up. Thank Jesus I scanned it before I painted on it, but it meant finishing the colour digitally.
In the end I was pleased with the final, but I only got 72%. Oh well, c'est la vie!
